Zanele Mavuso Mbatha
Zanele has two decades of experience in both the capital and corporate market sectors. She was formerly head of the financial markets department at the South African Reserve Bank and held the position of CEO at Incwala Resources, a multi-billion dollar platinum-mining company in South Africa. Zanele was a co-founder and director of Dema Group, a majority shareholder in Incwala Resources.
As a former Executive Director of Abt Associates, a US consultancy firm, Zanele co-established Abt’s regional office for southern Africa. In this position, she was responsible for advising the South African government during its privatization of the telecommunication and transportation sectors. Before this, Zanele was an investment banker at Salomon Brothers and J.P. Morgan in New York City. As an investment banker, she participated in cross-border M&A activities worth more than $850 million, and assisted with the execution of over $2 billion in long-term debt issuance on behalf of sovereign clients in Latin America. Zanele is a graduate of Mills College in Oakland, California.
